On our second day, we drove.

And drove.

And drove.

I’m sure you get the picture. We drove from Christchurch to Queenstown, quite a bit of a trip.

However, we did stop to take pictures like the ones above, and at two different lakes, Lake Tekapo (below)
And Lake Pukaki (below)

There isn’t a way to describe to you how tranquil and beautiful these lakes were. Perfectly untouched, just existing, the color of the water the most perfect shade. It was amazing. And the mountains in the background were beautiful as well. After these lakes, we pretty much drove straight through to Queenstown, arriving just in time for… you guessed it, dinner! But first we checked in to our hostel and got the best surprise ever….

What, we have our own bathroom?!?!

Yes, friends, having your own bathroom in a hostel is quite the luxury. So after we checked in, we wandered the town, taking in the BEAUTIFUL views from the ski town…

A cozy dinner (or, using NZ spelling, a “cosy” dinner) later, we headed back to the hostel and relaxed for the evening.
